Kiting is the term used for any movement done to prevent taking damage. The premise behind kiting allows the player to do damage to their target while taking little to no damage.
Kiting is mainly used by casters to avoid damage from melee NPCs or players. The main tactic is to keep the target slowed, immobilized, stuned or trapped while utilizing speed buffs. This allows the caster to keep a distance while applying damage. The use of DoTs, in combination with roots, is very effective.
- Snares are a common tool used to prevent targets from running away. Snaring can also be used to prevent a target from catching up to you if you need to distance yourself from an opponent.
- Knocking down your target will prevent them from kiting, and will render them unable to cast protective spells, making them more vulnerable.
- Utilizing speed buffs or skills can make it easier to catch up to your pursuer.
- Use or to strip the slow debuffs or roots.
