Tiamaranta was the stronghold of Dragon Lord Tiamat. It was introduced in the 3.0 expansion and catered to players between level 58 and 60.
In 4.8, Tiamaranta was destroyed and sank into the abyss ocean. The map is thus no longer accessible to players.
Lay of the LandEdit
Tiamat had manipulated reality in various parts of the region (the lands of Fissure, Gravity, Wrath, and Petrification) — all to make the perfect conduits for his specialized powers, as was reflected by the great diversity of the land. The Land of Fissure was a dry, arid desert region with cliffs and covered the north section of the map; the Land of Wrath was a scorched area with magma pits that covered the east; the Land of Gravity covered the west and was an area where parts of the landscape had been lifted into the air (there were various mini-rifts or "gaps" to get around the area); the Land of Petrification was located in the south and consisted of ice and petrified remains. The heart of each land, which was the source of Tiamat's corresponding power over that area, was guarded by his incarnations or avatars.
Rancora Fortress served as the base of operations for the Reians, Elyos and Asmodians during their assault on the Dragon Lord. There were flight routes to various outposts on the map, from which the player could use windstreams to travel to specific destinations. In the centre of the region was a tremendous castle called Tiamaranta's Eye, which was connected to Tiamat's main fortress.
Tiamaranta, just like Sarpan, was mostly neutral territory with two exceptions:
- In the hours preceding the daily reset, Tiamaranta was open-world PvP.
- Several areas were contested 24/7: Tiamaranta's Eye, the Balaur Legion Garrisons, the Basilika Caverns, the Gurriki Tree / Black Cloud Camp and their surroundings, and the direct vicinity of the Hearts themselves.
Hearts Tiamaranta had 4 'mini fortresses', commonly known as the Hearts. Compared to siege fortresses, they were way easier to capture and only served as access points into Tiamaranta's Eye and the Satra Treasure Hoard instance. They offered no NPC services or additional benefits. Either race needed to control at least 2 of the Hearts to gain access to the Eye. By controlling 3 or 4, the other race was locked out from the eye.
